Kholmogory carving on bones has been known since 17th century. First of all, this is openwork, the finest carving. Fabulous floral ornaments and elegant rocailles are combined with relief subject images and tinted engraving. Excellent collection of Kholmogory bone carving is presented in The Historical Memorial Museum of M. V. Lomonosov.
One of the oldest products — beads, mouthpieces, combs with the finest cloves. All kinds of boxes and caskets, snuff boxes, photo frames, icons, miniatures and portraits were also popular. Later they started making glasses, vases, chess and checkers, furniture lining, copies of famous sculptures and decorative compositions on a variety of topics.
Kholmogory bone carving factory proposes the master classes to master the creation of amazing products of bone. The factory is located in the school building in the village of Lomonosovo. Under the guidance of experienced master, one can try his/her hand as the carver.

-Beginner level: making of small pendant.
Duration: 15-25 minutes, cost — 150 rubles per person
— Basic level: short course of history of bone carving, types of bone, its characteristics, equipment. Making of souvenir (pendant or keychain).
Duration: 30-45 minutes, cost — 300 rubles per person
-Advanced level: short course of history of bone carving, types of bone, its characteristics, equipment. Making of souvenir (pendant or keychain). Excursion in the workshops of the plant.
Duration: 45 −60 minutes, the cost — 450 rubles per person
The price includes the cost of the raw material and tools.
