The Krasnoborskiy historical-memorial and art museum named after S.I. Tupitsyn is situated in the town college (1914). The museum was founded in 1987 on the basis of collections of the Krasnoborsk secondary school museum (1958). Today the museum funds comprise more than 22 thousand museum exhibits: beautiful collections of samovars and painted distaffs, ancient books and golden sewing, paintings, etc. The museum’s expositions tell about the history of Krasnoborsk, peasant everyday life, crafts, life and creativity of their compatriots: the artist Alexander Borisov, the stonemason and builder of Saint-Petersburg Samson Sukhanov and harmonica player and virtuoso Sergey Smetanin. In the museum you can also find the creative workshop “Life craft” (“Zhyvoye remeslo”).
