Caravanning in the Russian North: the conference about the development of caravanning will be held in Kargopol
The conference «Reserved lands of the Russian North» will take place in Kargopol from 14 to 15 June 2021. The event will be supported by the Federal Agency for Tourism.
Caravaning is one of the most promising types of tourism, which has become widespread abroad. Nowadays it is an independent industry. Autotourism (caravanning) accounts about 24% of all tourism in Europe. In Russia, the culture of autotravel is still emerging, but the pandemic and self-isolation have further strengthened the popularity of this type of vacation.
The vast territories of the Arkhangelsk region attract car travelers by its mysterious and inaccessible locations. Every year expeditions come here to enjoy the nature and cultural heritage of the North.
In Jaunary 2021, a team «Arctic Trophy» (travelers from Perm) by snowmobiles reached the Arctic Circle. Then, next expedition «Russian North in the Embrace of Winter» furrowed the territories of the Arkhangelsk region. Bloggers and journalists discovered the most beautiful villages of the Russian North. The autoexpedition «Polar Express» came to the Arkhangelsk region to test the winter route.
At the conference will be presented the interregional auto-tourist route «Reserved lands of the Russian North», which passes through the territories of the Arkhangelsk region, the Republic of Karelia, the Nenets Autonomous District, the St. Peterburg, Vologda and Murmansk regions.
The route across the Arkhangelsk region includes: the national parks «Kenozersky» and «Onezhskoe Pomorie», the Pinezhsky reserve, the Onega and Vodlozersky branches of the national park «Vodlozersky». It goes through the cities of Kargopol, Onega, Arkhangelsk, Pinezhskyi and Kholmogorskyi districts.
The conference in Kargopol will become an open discussion platform for dialogue and exchange of experience regarding the key issues in the development of auto tourism and caravanning in the Arctic zones in Russia. Different representatives of federal and regional authorities, public organizations in the field of auto tourism and caravanning, Russian and foreign travel communities, the media, foreign experts, caravanners and bloggers plan to attend the event.
The conference agenda included: panel discussions, seminars, presentations and diverse excursion program in the city of Kargopol and Kenozero National Park.
